DESCRIPTION: EPW - J.W. Benson, London, 50mm, heavy 18K gold original demi-HC with beautiful foliate engraving detail, guilloche enameled initials to rear in two shades of blue, blue enameled demi-chapter, bearing London hallmarks for 1895, "J.W.B." marking in oval cameo, gold cuvette, gilt spacing ring around mvt, white enamel SS dial, fully capped lever escapement, diamond endstone, 19J, gilt mvt, s#115241 with case bearing corresponding five digit s#11524. Gross weight of assembled watch 83.7 dwt (130.0 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, mild haze in areas of plate surfaces, some mild ultra-fine scratch striations likely from a past light wiping; dial with scattered hls, some circular hand rub within seconds-register; fine hour and minute hands of mismatched tones, seconds-hand is a shorter than appropriate blue replacement; case front closing with small gap to band around upper portion, case shows hardly any wear, no exterior dents or dings, cuvette with a subtle shallow dent at lower-right perimeter, superb engraving detail, rear enameling is substantially intact with only small bit of loss to the top-left end of the "Z" initial, demi-chapter enameling is fully present, front, rear and cuvette open a bit short of 90 degrees (to approximately 80 degrees each); tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good primary glass crystal, clean plastic demi-crystal with some bits of glue excess around its seat.
